Day 13 & 14 - 52KMS/REST DAY

45km down and I was out of water, standing on a massive bridge, looking over the edge at the town that I was meant to be staying in that night, but I had no clue how to get down there. To cut a long story short, after another hour and a half and some help from Eddy boy, I found myself walking onto this farm town underneath the bridge. I asked one of the locals where the shop was and they pointed about 50m down the street. I was now within viewing distance of a bottle of coke, the focus of my desire for the last 2 hours.

I was sitting in the small shop when Jesus walked in and said hello to me in an American accent, he had lived in Chicago during high school with his dad and 2 brothers.

Within the hour I was setting up my sleeping bag in a construction site that had a room and bathroom and had been invited for a beer and dinner and the family home.

The dinner with rabbit that the boys had shot the last time they had been hunting in the surrounding mountains. It was delicious!!

I decided to take the boys up on their invite and stay the next day. A day that included farm chores and trying to make a horse have sex with a donkey. Good times. Went to bed early to get off to an early start.

Amazing experience.
