Day 40 - 35km

Today's run was the first of a string of days along the pacific coast less populated area. But after having a close look at the maps yesterday, I was confident and excited that it was going to be a good time with plenty of local surf coast culture.

It was nice leaving the tourist hub of Puerto Escondido and entering back into local Mexico, people going about there business on the farms or small stores along the highway.

The highlight of the day was crossing paths with a French dude who was running his bike North. He started in BA Argentina!!! Had some really great advice for me. He also wanted to take   A few picture of me and my cart.

This was a moment a later in the day got goosebumps when I was thinking back to it.

I remember when used to travel I would see people like the French guy and wish I had that kind of focus or care, that I could put together a trip with suck thought and drive.

Today when I was having my photo taken It dawned on me that I am now that guy, and what's more, others want to take my photo. Special moment for me and a great motivator.

I ran to my destination for night and after finding the only hotel on the tiny back town was $40 a night, I then offered the owner $10 to camp out the front of his hotel on the beach, he didn't have any problems with that and the deal was done,

I found a shaded area and put my things down and sat I a Beach chair for a moment.....woke up 2 hours later! It was lovely.

I had some fish for a early dinner, set my tent up and attempted to fall asleep, it was so hot even when the sun was gone, at least 30 degree.

Now, I don't want to complain to much because I am having the time of my life but, it is so damn hot. I mean, running after 11am it turns into an oven. Some days I will drink 8L and not need to wee once! And my poor pale skin is getting smashed. I am very conscious of sun protect as a result of my parents drilling it into me as a young chap and my dad getting half his back cut out from skin cancers, but there is no getting around it. The sun is boiling hot at this time of the year.

Oh well, I did choose to run 2500kms through Mexico!

Had a great day and it was really a day to get back into the swing of things, mentally I achieved that and physically it was not a issue, my back is tightening up now, as a result of pulls the cart.

Tomorrow I'm on again!!
