Today was a great rest day. The town I am in has a lot of buzz. Again, it is a town that exists because of the traffic passing through on its way to the countless stunning beach resorts from one major city or another.
The beach is only 2km away so after lazing in bad for a couple of hours I went down for a swim and some lunch.
In the arvo, I decided I would have a few hours in the aircon watching the soccer on TV. I had never seen Leonal Messi play before, so I figured it would be a good opportunity to familiarise myself with him genius.....he hardly touched the ball!
I need to start listening to my body a lot closer, or at least actively looking after it a lot better. On the back of some great regular Advice from my coach Andy DuBois from Mile27 I have now priorities resting the body and have a proper recovery set up.
This includes lowering my core body temp after everyday, replenishing calories after the days running and stretching with intent regularly.
My body has shown some major signs of fatigue and dehydration. I had that hamstring niggle last week (which has now recovered) but also some blood in my urine which in a runners case generally means some trauma to the bladder. I must intake more fluids in my recovery periods and attempt to lower core body temp when out on the road.
Ate dinner at the same place as last night, only tonight after my dinner, one of the staff ask if she could have a photo with me. It ending up being a group shot with every staff member there. First white boy to eat there ever!! The food was great. All the best to them. Plus, there is a army Truck that sit out front which probably makes it the safest place to eat in town!
There re was a sand storm after dinner. Great to watch the locals not bat an eyelid
My mind is strong, the motivation is still very much there, and the thought of months of this life does not bore me nor does it frighten me.
The finish line seems very achievable and is not a distant dream, I do feel as though I am edging closer everyday.
